galaxy-s6-vs-galaxy-s6-edge_04Samsung’s latest phones are the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge. Both are beautifully designed handsets, with the latter sporting a rather unique design, however it seems that despite the new direction in design Samsung is headed, and despite the largely positive reviews of the phone and its camera, it seems that Samsung just can’t make enough money.

According to Samsung’s latest quarterly earnings guide for Q2 2015, it seems that the company is not optimistic that they will be able to make as much money as they did in the same period last year. The company has estimated that for this quarter, they will be earning 6.9 trillion Korean won in operating profit for the last 3 months ending on 30th June 2015.

This is a 4% decline from the same period a year ago, and it will also see revenue drop by 8.4% to 48 trillion won as well. Of course Samsung could be wrong and they could end up doing better than they thought as the final figures are expected to be released later this month, but for now it looks like Samsung is agreeing with the analysts that they might have misread the demand for their products.

While it hasn’t been confirmed, analysts have suggested that Samsung’s decline in profit and revenue is partially due to the misreading of the demand of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which proved higher than Samsung had anticipated. Normally this is a good thing but due to Samsung being unable to churn out enough handsets to meet demand, analysts have felt that this was a missed opportunity for the company.
