skype-for-businessHave you heard about Lync 2013 before? Well, if you have not, chances are this will be the last time you will hear about it, as it has just been rebranded to be known as Skype for Business. Previously, Lync 2013 was an app that was made available for businesses over in the Windows Phone Store, where it boasted of web conferencing and chat capabilities – two tenets that are more than welcome by those in the business world where such apps are concerned.

Skype for Business will be a free app, and since it has a new name, why not throw in a brand new look as well? That would be the least that can be done, and it will also come with additional emoticons which goes to prove that those in the seemingly cut-throat world of business, too, have to learn how to express themselves through cute icons. Apart from that, group messaging can also be carried out through instant messaging or video routes.

Those who happen to have a device that runs on Windows Phone 8.1 alongside Lync 2013 installed on it will be able to enjoy an automatic (and free) update to Skype for Business, while folks rocking to Windows Phone 8.0 will have to settle for using Lync 2013 or Lync 2010. You can download Skype for Business here. [Press Release]
