Usually when developers release a new patch for a game, it’s something to look forward to because it usually means bugs have been fixed, improvements have been made, and potentially new features have also been added. Take The Witcher’s latest patch that brings the game to version 1.07.

The patch does bring a lot to the table, but unfortunately it turns out that some of the things it has brought includes lowering the framerates of the game in certain areas for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. This was recently discovered by the folks at Eurogamer during their analysis of the game.

The publication notes that both consoles have taken a hit in terms of framerates compared to the previous patch 1.05. “Compared side-by-side, the gap has narrowed between PS4 and Xbox One, but only due to the latter’s apparent degradation in performance, forcing the two to run at a matching 20fps in challenging areas.”

It is unclear if the developers behind The Witcher did this on purpose where they lowered the framerates to make it more even across the board, or if it might have been the result of a bug. Either way it seems that the game is still very playable, just that it isn’t as smooth as it used to be.
