Uber has transformed into a truly global company in a short span of time primarily because its service appeals to people, they can hail a car by using an app on their smartphone and not have to worry about dealing with change or tips. Picking up fares can sometimes be more of an inconvenience for drivers if they have to stop in the middle of the street close to where they’re needed because there’s nowhere to pull over. The company is now testing a new feature to fix this.

For drivers, picking up an Uber fare can be challenging if they have been summoned in an area where it’s impossible to pull over. If they stop nearby then it’s a waste of time for both the passenger and the driver, who also spends more gas in the process.

Going through an inefficient route to pick a fare also results in more gas usage for the driver, so this is something that can definitely be improved.

Uber is testing a new feature in San Francisco called “Suggested Pickup Location,” the feature will automatically tell users of the best pickup location close to them where it will be much quicker for the driver to pick them up.

If users don’t mind walking for a bit they just need to drop a pin on the suggested place and head over there to wait for their Uber, otherwise they can choose to summon the car where they want, suggested pickup locations won’t be enforced.

It remains to be seen though if this feature ever evolves from the test phase to become a permanent fixture, drivers might certainly want that to be the case.
