Earlier this year HBO announced that it will be offering standalone online streaming subscription for its channel and library of VOD content, the service is called HBO Now and it was launched as an Apple exclusive initially. Since then HBO has teamed up with other partners to open HBO Now to more people across the country and its latest partner is Verizon, Big Red’s broadband customers can sign up for HBO Now from today.
HBO Now is already available for iOS and Android devices, Cablevision customers can buy in whenever they want as well. The day has finally come for Verizon broadband customers, FiOS or otherwise.
They will be given a 30 day free trial for the service which can also be accessed using iOS, Android, PC, MAc, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV devices. When the trial ends subscribers will be required to pay $14.99 per month in order to retain access to the service.
Verizon has plans to sell HBO Now to Verizon Wireless customers as well but the company hasn’t confirmed when it will start doing that. Unfortunately this option will not be provided to FiOS TV customers, they still have to buy proper HBO which comes with access to HBO Go, so they can’t unload HBO from their cable bill just yet.
