A few days ago we reported that Blizzard would be in attendance at Gamescom 2015 where they would be holding a press conference. At that time it was unclear as to what might be announced, but we had speculated it could be a Diablo 3 expansion, especially since the previous expansion was also announced at Gamescom.
However it turns out that won’t be the case. Instead Blizzard has since confirmed that they will be announcing a new World of Warcraft expansion. This is actually something of a surprise especially when you consider that Warlords of Draenor was only released in November 2014. Then again knowing Blizzard’s schedule, chances are this new expansion won’t see a release until 2016.
This will give players about 1.5-2 years at enjoying Warlords of Draenor before things pick up speed again in the next expansion, whatever it is going to be. That being said, while some have lauded Blizzard’s attempts with Warlords of Draenor, there were some who felt that the last raid, the Hellfire Citadel, was a bit anti-climatic.
Perhaps Blizzard went in knowing this as well which is why they already have a new expansion planned that will hopefully keep gamers interested. In any case it’s really anyone’s guess as to what the next expansions will be, but in the meantime there are plenty of fans out there who are more than happy to share their speculations on YouTube as to what it will be.
