apple-tvIf you have bought an Apple TV which is of the third-gen variety, there is a chance that you could be part of a product recall. According to a report from MacRumors, it seems that Apple has recently started to notify a small batch of customers who bought the third-gen Apple TV and are asking them to send their units back a replacement.

Apparently it seems that this has to do with a defective component but unfortunately it was not mentioned as to what that component is. However as noted by MacRumors, there has yet to be a public announcement made by Apple, suggesting that this could be a recall on a very small scale, but at the same time Apple has been reaching out to owners to let them know about it.

Now like we said if you have bought a third-gen Apple TV, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for an email from Apple informing you about the issue. You will then be sent a new Apple TV and are expected to ship the old and defective model back. If you have not received any email from Apple, chances are your device is not one of the affected ones.

It also seems like Apple is throwing in a free iTunes gift card for the troubles experienced by customers. In the meantime speaking about the Apple TV, the Cupertino company is rumored to announce a brand new revamped and fully upgraded model in September, so if you were planning on buying one soon, we suggest you hold off and wait for the new model instead.
