amazon top gearAs you might have heard some time last week, Amazon snapped up Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May for a new show that they will be launching on Amazon Prime. Given the trio’s popularity as the former presenters of the BBC’s Top Gear TV show, safe to say many are excited to see what they can come up with next.

In fact it looks like Amazon will not be holding back on the budget as it has been reported that the company will be giving the trio an eye-watering £160 million to spend which roughly adds up to £4.44 million per episode. If you think about it, the total amount of money Amazon is willing to spend is actually more than the budget given to the first Avengers movie.

It will also be more expensive than Game of Thrones which at the moment is coming in a little under £4 million episode – yikes! According to the show’s producer Andy Wilman who was also behind BBC Top Gear and who followed the trio to Amazon, it sounds as if they will be given pretty much free reign as what they can do with their show.

Wilman was quoted as sayign, “Every one we have talked to has told us: ‘They leave you alone to make your show’. That’s a big one for us – we don’t like interference, we don’t need to be policed.” The new show is expected to be launched in the autumn of 2016, and with such a massive budget, we have to admit we are excited to see what they will come up with. Sounds like a good time to sign up for Amazon Prime now, doesn’t it?
