It was yesterday when we brought you word on how the new Windows RT update will bring about a refreshed lock screen as well as a Start menu, and with that bit of news, things have not been cleared up concerning whether or not the new Start menu will enable users to enjoy the windowing of apps in the manner which Windows 10 provides. A revised entry of its FAQ concerning the Windows 10 OS mentioned, “If you’re running Windows RT, your device won’t upgrade to Windows 10. We will have an update available in September 2015 that will improve the Start menu and lock screen.”

I guess what used to be rumor has now been confirmed, with the update being made available from September onward. In the past, Microsoft did make a pledge to offer support for the Surface RT hardware until April 2017, while the Surface 2 would be able to enjoy such support for an additional year. The most recent refresh for Windows RT where the Surface or Surface 2 are concerned was March and April, respectively.

In March this year, we did talk about how Microsoft has already dropped support for Windows RT, which certainly does not bode well for users who are rocking to that operating system.
