User safety is obviously a priority for Facebook and that’s one of the reasons why it has dedicated teams and intelligent security systems to ensure that users have a safe experience on the world’s largest social network. Users are also provided with optional security controls that they can turn on for additional protection, it’s up to the users to decide which features they want to use. Facebook has now launched a new tool called Security Checkup that makes it easier for you to secure your account.

Facebook says that sometime over the next few weeks its users across the globe are going to see a reminder on top of their News Feed prompting them to check out this new tool.

The first step of Security Checkup is to logout of devices which you haven’t used in a while or forgot about, this ensures that you’re only logged into Facebook when you want to be.

In the second step you can turn on a feature called login alerts which lets you know what anyone else tries logging into your account from an unfamiliar browser or device, you’ll receive a notification or email alert.

The third step will provide tips about how to keep your password strong and unique, Facebook recommends not using the social network’s password anywhere else online.

Facebook says that in just a few steps your accounts will get some additional protection and you get some extra peace of mind. Security Checkup can be used at will here.
