hearthstone grand tournamentHearthstone is Blizzard’s free-to-play card game. The core game itself is free and gamers can buy booster packs that gives them a chance to win new cards that they can use to construct new decks with. These booster packs can be bought either with gold or real life money, but have you ever wondered how much Blizzard makes from these purchases?

According to a recent report released by SuperData (via VG247), they have estimated that Blizzard is making a whopping $20 million a month just from Hearthstone alone. In fact the data suggests that Blizzard could stand to make much more come 2018 where the numbers are expected to grow by a “modest 5%”.

The report, which looks at the card game genre, has suggested that publishers looking to get into the card game business, such as Bethesda with their upcoming The Elder Scrolls: Legends, should consider Hearthstone as the entry point in the genre. “Hearthstone proves traditional CCG players want to game on the go, as monthly revenue for Hearthstone jumped 31% when the game became available on smartphones.”

In the meantime Blizzard has recently announced the latest Hearthstone expansion in the form of The Grand Tournament. Booster pack bundles for the expansion are currently available for pre-order where they are priced at $50 for 50 card packs.
