instagram-signLast week Instagram announced that they were banning the #goddess hashtag, and it looks like the social network is not slowing down in its banning process. In fact according to reports, it looks like Instagram has banned yet another hashtag in the form of #edm, which for those who are unfamiliar typically refers to a genre of music.

EDM, or Electronic Dance Music, is a type of music and it seems like it would be an innocent-enough hashtag. However according to an Instagram spokesman who spoke to TIME, it seems that the hashtag was used to share images containing nudity. “In this case, #EDM was being used to share content that violates our guidelines around nudity.”

That being said we’re not sure if banning the entire hashtag makes sense. After all wouldn’t it be better to just remove the offending images as opposed to banning the entire hashtag? The hashtag can be used in all sorts of ways, such as helping users find and discover new EDM music, or allowing DJs and artists to promote their stuff.

Prior to this, Instagram had also banned the #curvy hashtag but later reinstated it following massive backlash. We’re not sure when the social network plans on reinstating either #goddess or #edm, so for now you’ll need to think of other hashtags to use if you plan on tagging posts related to EDM.
