iPhone-6-review-12

A report released today by market research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech reveals that iPhone sales continued to climb in markets across Europe, China, Japan and Australia throughout the second quarter even as iPhone sales declined at home in the United States. One major reason for the drop at home appears to be increased competition from Android devices that already dominate the global smartphone market.

Data from the report shows that iPhone sales grew by 2.1 percent from the same quarter last year in Europe’s five biggest markets which include the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Moreover iPhone sales saw a significant improvement as opposed to the same quarter last year in Australia, China and Japan where growth was registered at 9.1 percent, 7.3 percent and 2.7 percent respectively.

On the other hand iPhone sales in the U.S. declined in the previous quarter ending June 30th, a 2.3 percent drop was registered bringing down the total share in the U.S. market from 32.8 percent in the same quarter last year to 30.5 percent.

Lacklustre iPhone sales in the previous quarter can partly be attributed to the fact that some people hold off on purchasing a new iPhone when Apple is due to launch next-generation models.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are already over 10 months old and with new models expected this September customers who prefer to wait only ended up contributing to low sales of the iPhones as opposed to Android devices. in the previous quarter.
