It has been known for a while now that Hideo Kojima has been putting together a launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and fans have been anxiously waiting for it to arrive, a new trailer was released for this title recently but it only ended up increasing the excitement for Kojima’s trailer. It was confirmed a couple of days back that Kojima will release it on August 25th and he has followed through on that promise.

The Kojima Metal Gear Solid 5 trailer has been finally released, it doesn’t even make an attempt to bring in new fans, if you haven’t been a long-time fan of this series you’re probably not going to understand what’s going on in the trailer.

From the looks of it Kojima isn’t making a victory lap with this trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, instead it feels more like a poignant goodbye, since this is probably going to be the last Metal Gear Solid title headed by Kojima. This title is particularly emotional for fans because Konami is also removing his name from Metal Gear Solid 5’s branding.

It will be interesting to see how the Metal Gear Solid franchise moves into the future without Kojima at the helm, for now though fans can be content with the fact that his last MGS title is coming out for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 1st.
