rock band 4 soloNow that we know one of Van Halen’s tracks will be making it to Rock Band 4, are there any more new developments with this particular platform that we should be aware of? Apparently so, as those who own an Xbox One might have to fork out a wee bit more when they want to enjoy Rock Band 4 on their consoles using last gen instruments, in the form of an adapter. As for PS4 owners, you are off the hook, apparently.

Rock Band 4 developer Harmonix Music Systems announced today that pre-orders for the stand-alone retail version of Rock Band 4 are now open, and the PS4 version will cost $59.99, whereas the Xbox One version is more expensive at $79.99. The additional $20 has nothing to do with more tracks, a limited edition box or anything special, but rather, it is due to the fact that there is a Legacy Game Controller Adapter that will allow support for majority of the Xbox 360 wireless instruments out there.

The reason that the Legacy Game Controller Adapter is crucial is due to the fact that Microsoft altered the wireless connection between the console and its controllers, hence even with Tom Cruise around, there was no way of the Xbox One supporting Xbox 360 peripherals without any outside help. Well, as an Xbox One owner and Rock Band fan, I am quite sure that this is not going to stop you from picking up the title, right?
