Sony-Xperia-fingerprint-scanner-640x640The Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are phones that we have been hearing about for a while now. However for those who are curious as to what the devices might look like, you’re in luck because thanks to a recent tweet by @ViziLeaks, the alleged photo of both devices have surfaced as you can see in the photo above.

The device to the left is presumably the Z5 Compact as from this angle, it looks smaller than the device pictured to the rest. Sitting in the middle is most probably the iPhone 6 and from the photos, it looks like some kind of fingerprint testing is going on, thus corroborating the rumors that the upcoming Xperia Z5 handsets will feature the security system.

Interestingly enough instead of placing the fingerprint scanner on the home button or on the rear of the device, Sony has opted to place it towards the side as you can make out from the image on the screen. This has resulted in the volume rockers and what appears to be a camera shutter button being pushed towards the bottom of the device.

It’s an interesting position but assuming Sony only includes one sensor, this means that left-handers who want to unlock the phone will have to switch to their right hand, unless the sensor is capable of capturing the index finger as a print as well. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but with Sony planning an event for the 2nd of September, we suppose we might learn more then.
