Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Edge-Plus-18

The word “edge” has become Samsung’s favorite, and the company has recently unveiled many devices with the term edge attached to them. Basically, edge justifies Samsung’s new screen design, which is curved and shows off notifications on it. But looks like LG wants to take an edge over Samsung and in a bid to go forward, LG’s patent attorney has tried to reserve a few trademarks with the name “edge”.

LG has filed some exclusive “edge” trademarks such as Super Edge, Dual Edge, Upper Edge, Dual Side Edge, Side Edge, Double-Edge, Two Edge, and G Edge. There is no information regarding the motive with which LG has filed the patents, especially when its rival Samsung has an entire line-up of devices with the term edge attached to it. One assumption is that maybe LG wants to curb Samsung’s plans to name its future devices with the word edge. Or maybe LG is planning to launch a new series of curved screen devices as well and hence the name “edge”.

Whatever may be the reason, it does looks like LG is trying to troll Samsung with trademark antics. Also, if LG is trying to go “curved and edgy” with its forthcoming devices then also it will look like as if it is trying to copy Samsung’s design strategy. We hope that LG comes up with a good explanation for filing the trademarks.
