samsung logo 4Samsung is probably best known for creating mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. They are also known for their televisions and displays, and to a certain extent even household electronics like vacuum cleaners, fridges, washing machines, and so on. However could it be that the South Korean tech giant has plans to enter the gaming market?

While it is only speculation for now, it seems that over in South Korea, Samsung has apparently trademarked the name “Samsung Games”. While we can’t be sure what exactly the trademark is meant to entail, the fact that games is mentioned has many believing it could be for some kind of gaming service.

In fact we wouldn’t be surprised if this might have something to do with the Gear VR. The virtual reality headset can be used for games and perhaps Samsung Games might have something to do with creating games for the headset. With the amount of interest shown in virtual reality at the moment and with Samsung reportedly launching a second-gen Gear VR, it might not be such a stretch.

In any case we’ll try not to speculate too much as to what Samsung Games could stand for. For all we know, they could simply be registering it to protect themselves, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
