Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A8 in India, and the device will up for purchase from today, for a price of Rs. 32,500 (Approx. $507). The company initially announced it in China last month and garnered much attention for its sleek metal design. Following the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy A8 also features a fingerprint sensor in the home button.

The Galaxy A8 is just 5.9mm thick and it will be available in color options such as White, Black, and Gold. It features a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a 64-bit Samsung Exynos octa-core SoC (1.8GHz Quad Core + 1.3GHz Quad Core) coupled with a 2GB of RAM. The device boasts 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. There is a 16-megapixel rear camera on-board along with a 5-megapixel front camera.

On the software front, the Samsung Galaxy A8 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the latest version of TouchWiz on top. In terms of connectivity, it supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and it is backed by a 3,050mAh battery. As per the design, the Galaxy A8 is the slimmest handset that Samsung has manufactured so far. The display is somewhat bezel-less and there is a metal finish around the edges of the smartphone.
