sony speaker tv remoteOur televisions are one gadget, our remote controls are another gadget, and our speakers are also another gadget, and typically all these gadgets exist separately. However it seems that over in Japan, Sony has created some kind of weird hybrid which combines a television remote and a speaker into one.

As you can see in the image above, that is the result of this weird combo also known as the SRS-LSR10. It’s a rather interesting design that seems to be more functional and aesthetically pleasing and like we said, it’s basically a combination of a television remote a speaker. The idea is so that you can walk around the house and keep listening to your shows without having to watch it.

For example it might come in handy if you’re watching some kind of cooking show and you just need to follow the instructions. Or maybe you want to listen to the news while you walk around the house. The device will pair with your TV via a wireless dongle and pretty much acts like a regular remote.

According to Sony, it has a battery life of around 16 hours and while we can’t attest to the sound quality of these speakers, judging from its size it should be fairly loud. Unfortunately it will only be available in Japan come 12th of September where it will be priced at around $167.
