Super slow motion videos are almost always a treat to watch, there’s an entire channel up on YouTube where mundane tasks are recorded in super slow motion and then uploaded for the world to see. Whether you’re looking at a tennis ball being reduced to mush as a powerful serve is hit or something else, such videos are interesting to say the least, even more so if they involve lethal items such as bullets.

If you’ve ever watched Discovery you might be familiar with Mythbusters, the two guys have spent years and years conducting all kinds of different experiments on the show that are almost always recorded in slow motion.

This time around they pulled out all the stops and used a very high-speed camera called The Phantom which is capable of recording video at a staggering 73,000 frames-per-second.

They captured the precise moment a bullet exits the pistol and the resulting footage is simply mesmerizing. You get to see tiny mushroom clouds and rivulets of gasses and fire as the projectile exits the pistol, and as Mythbuster Adam Savage aptly puts it, it’s just really cool.

If you’re interested in these things you might find yourself watching this video again and again, that’s just how captivating it really is.
