I am quite sure that many of us would have already known about Apple’s #bendgate with the iPhone 6, and this would also lead to the question of whether the upcoming iPhone 6S will also bend like its predecessor. Sure, the bending issue was not all that widespread, as it affected only a small number of handsets, but not having it as an issue at all would have been a whole lot better from the get go. Word on the street has it that Apple does not want to see something like this repeat, leading to them strengthening the aluminum alloy which will be part of the upcoming iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Rumors point to the new iPhones being made out of 7000 series aluminum, which is a whole lot tougher compared to the 6063 aluminum alloy that saw action in the previous year’s iPhones. Lewis from Unbox Therapy claimed that he has in his possession, a rear shell which allegedly belongs to an iPhone 6S, where he then had it go through a bend test.

Not only that, Lewis analyzed the elemental make-up of the alleged iPhone 6S rear shell, which does seem to point to it being 7000 series aluminum, as it carries a chunk of zinc within as well. We will leave it to you to draw your own conclusion as to how tough the iPhone 6S’ chassis will be when it arrives.
