transparent_youtubeIf there was one thing annoying about YouTube is that its controls and menus on its web player was a solid color. This means that sometimes it can block some of the content you are watching. It’s not a big deal but it’s one of the very minor things we would love if YouTube could address it.

As it turns out our wish might have come true. According to reports it seems that is exactly what YouTube has done. As you can see in the screenshot above, YouTube for the web has been given a slight makeover where now its UI is transparent, so even if you’re trying to scrub the video or adjust its volume or see how long there’s left, it should not hamper your viewing experience too much.

The update has also been applied to the menus which while a couple of shades darker than the seek bar are also translucent. This also applies to embedded content as well so fret not if you were thinking that this only works on YouTube’s main website. Overall we do like the design which does give off a more fresh and modern take, and given that YouTube has its fair share of competitors, it looks like this UI update is a welcome breath of fresh air.
