mario maker wii uThe idea that you could create your own Super Mario levels and challenge your friends, or download new Super Mario levels created by other gamers so that you get to relive the game again definitely has huge appeal. We totally get that, and it looks like Nintendo hit the nail on the head because it looks like the game is a success.

According to a recently tweet by Nintendo of America, it turns out that the company has managed to sell more than 1 million copie of Super Mario Maker. This is a very impressive feat given that the game was only released on the 11th of September, meaning that it has achieved that many sales in less than a month’s time.

Breaking it down further, it has been revealed that the game has seen 2.2 million courses made since its release, which means on average every game has at least made 2.2 courses each. It has also been played 75 million times. Nintendo is probably well-aware of the success of the title as Super Mario Maker will be getting their own stage in Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U later this week.

With releases like Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., and now Super Mario Maker, it’s starting to look like Nintendo is slowly finding its groove again, although in this case it seems to be coming mostly from first-party titles, but better late than never!
