3d-printed-suite3D printing is definitely a new frontier of technology that is worth exploring, and perhaps it would be good to think big rather than just churn out small items with a 3D printer. How about printing an entire hotel suite? Lewis Yakich, an engineer who has had the experience of building houses in the US, happens to be the owner of a hotel in the Philippines. The unique thing about this hotel? It boasts of a 3D printed 1500 square foot suite, which will comprise of a couple of bedrooms, a living room as well as a spa that sports a generously sized Jacuzzi tub – which was also 3D printed, of course.

Now, printing an entire hotel suite is not a walk in the park by any means, since the entire shebang took a fair amount of time to come about. A month was used to figure out the correct mix with local materials in the fray, where a reliable process is the ultimate goal. Both plumbing and wiring would need to be done through a conventional method, but hopefully this too, will change in the future when there are more advances in the field of 3D printing. With advancements made in this area, perhaps we could be looking at an era of affordable housing that will be up to 60% more affordable to construct.
