alcatel_go_watchWearable tech is all the rage these days and while Alcatel isn’t necessarily a brand that comes to mind, the company is trying their hand all the same. At IFA 2015, Alcatel has officially announced the GO WATCH smartwatch. As you can see in the image above, it does not look like your typical smartwatch.

In fact upon first glance we had to make sure that we weren’t looking at Casio G-SHOCK. That being said, the design is pretty obvious that Alcatel has designed the watch for active users in mind. According to the company, it will feature water, dust, and shock resistance which is good news if you plan on being a bit rough with it.

This is pretty impressive given that most smartwatches these days feel almost a bit too delicate. Interestingly enough unlike a lot of smartwatch makers, Alcatel has opted not to go with Android Wear for its GO WATCH operating system. Instead they have chosen their own proprietary system that will be compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

The button on the watch, dubbed the GO button, will trigger what Alcatel calls “emotion pulse measurement”. This is basically a graph that is based on the data collected from the gyroscope, heart rate sensor, and accelerometer which you can then share on social media. The GO WATCH will also come with a 1.22-inch display and a 225mAh battery. Pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.
