iPhone6s-4Color-RedFish-PR-PRINTConsidering that we had heard Apple had placed a record number of orders for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus from their manufacturers, it was impressive that the company had managed to sell out their stock around the world, but what are the exact numbers? Did Apple managed to beat out last year’s sales?

Turns out that Apple’s streak of breaking their records on an annual basis is still going hot as the Cupertino company has recently announced record sales over the weekend. According to Apple, they have managed to sell a whopping 13 million iPhone 6s and 6s Plus handsets within 3 days of its launch.

This is impressive considering the fact that the initial batch of iPhones were only available in certain countries, meaning that when sales opens up to 40 more countries starting on the 9th of October, we can expect those sales numbers to go through the roof. Apple also stated in its press release that by the end of the year, over 130 countries will be carrying the new iPhones.

To put this into context, last year’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sold 10 million units over its opening weekend, so for Apple to beat those numbers by 3 million is a pretty impressive feat. According to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, “Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history. Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”
