apple_logoWe had initially assumed that Apple’s electric car, also known as Project Titan internally, was pretty early in its development stages. However according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, it turns that that we might not have to wait too long before we are able to take a look at it.

The report claims that the Cupertino company aims to finalize the car by 2019, and that internally they have marked it as a “committed project”. We can only assume that this, unlike the rumored iTV, will be seen through all the way to the end, but given that we have 4 years to go, anything could happen between now and then.

However Apple’s interest in electric cars has been revealed recently. The company is said to have paid a visit to the DMV, in which DMV officials confirmed that Apple was there to discuss autonomous vehicle regulations, although they did not dive into any specifics. At the moment not much is known about Apple’s electric car.

We do know that the company has been poaching Tesla’s employees who will supposedly lend their expertise in electric cars, but apart from that it’s really anyone’s guess as to what Apple could bring to the table. It will be interesting to see how Apple fares in developing an electric car, if the rumors are true.
