Apple finally came out with its first smartwatch this year and already many are looking towards the future, wondering what changes the company is going to introduce with the second-generation Apple Watch, commonly referred to now as the Apple Watch 2. Apple has obviously not said anything on the matter and we can’t expect it to. As for when we can expect the new smartwatch it’s expected that Apple Watch 2 won’t arrive at least before mid-2016.

This according to a research memo from Cowen and Company following a recent tour of suppliers based in Asia, the firm might purely be speculating about the timing for Apple’s next smartwatch, the rumor mill hasn’t had much to offer about this wearable device for now.

We do expect the rumors about Apple Watch 2 to pick up close to the new year and it’s likely that there might be a few leaks as well that reveal what we can expect from the company’s second-generation Apple Watch.

Cowen forecasts 18 million Apple Watch shipments by the end of this year and expects the company to move as much as 45 million by the end of next year, however analyst Timothy Arcuri adds that the figures might be pessimistic for next year as they’re based on the strength of data for 2015.
