inkcase i6As it stands the YotaPhone with an e-ink secondary display on its back isn’t available stateside. It was originally scheduled for a launch this year but was later cancelled, so we guess we’ll have to hope that the company’s partnership with ZTE will result in a device actually making its way to the US in 2016.

In the meantime if you love the idea of a secondary e-ink display, you might be pleased to learn that Oaxis has announced the InkCase i6. If the name sounds familiar, it is because last year the company launched InkCases for Android devices and the iPhone 5/5s, so with the InkCase i6, it will play nicely with your new iPhone 6 and presumably the iPhone 6s.

Basically what the InkCase does is provide your phone with a case, and on the back of the case there is an e-ink display. This display will run on its own lithium-polymer battery so you don’t have to worry about it draining your phone’s battery just to power it. It will be able to display all kinds of information like the time, weather, notifications, upcoming events, and more.

The company is currently accepting pre-orders for the InkCase i6 so if you’d like to order one for yourself, it is priced at $99 and is expected to make its way to customers in November.
