Public WiFi is awesome if you’re on holiday and you need access to the internet to access emails, messages, or maps. However public WiFi can be dangerous as it does leave you more vulnerable to hacks and people snooping in on your activities. The good news is that now there’s a device for your smartphone that could potentially protect your privacy.

Dubbed the InvizBox Go, this is a smartphone accessory that will protect your privacy while allowing you to enjoy public WiFi at the same time. This should ease your fears while you’re out at Starbucks and surfing the web while sipping on your venti caramel macchiato. This is thanks to the device essentially creating a VPN which according to its description, will provide an “enhanced Tor experience”.

However there is a catch and that is it will come with a subscription fee, sort of. If you mainly want to protect yourself while out in public, you can opt for the free subscription which will give you limited bandwidth. Alternatively if you want to use it all the time, there is a monthly subscription of €4 a month with unlimited access.

The device itself can also double up as an external battery should you need it and will play nicely with pretty much any mobile device that can connect to it. InvizBox Go will be priced at €79 for the early bird special, or €89 normally. If you’d like to pledge to its Kickstarter campaign, then head on over for the details. In the meantime you can watch the video above to learn more about it.
