ios 9 failiOS 9 was released yesterday and we’re sure many users out there have installed it on their mobile devices. Unfortunately it would seem that there are several users out there who are having issue with the installation process. The common error here is that they are greeted with a “Software Update Failed” message when trying to download the update.

At the moment it is unclear if this error might have anything to do with Apple’s servers being overloaded by download requests, or if there is some kind of bug that is causing this to happen. If you are similarly affected by this, there is some good news. Apparently the installation will work if you were to download the update via iTunes on your computer and install it from there.

This is as opposed to downloading it directly via your mobile device. We’re not sure what the difference is, but apparently many claim that this is a legit workaround. Like we said there is a chance this could be due to the overwhelming demand in downloads, so if you’re not in a rush you can try again in a few days when hopefully the requests start to die down a bit.

The update weighs in a little over 1GB, which is actually much lower than compared to iOS 8, so you’ll want to free up some space on your mobile devices too if you’re running a bit low.
