Apple has made lots of interesting announcements today at its event in San Francisco, it unveiled a handful of new products including a new tablet, new Apple TV set-top box and new iPhones. The company also decided to take the time and confirm what the iOS 9 release date is, those who have been waiting for the new firmware to arrive won’t have to wait much longer because it will be released later this month.

iOS 9 was first unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June this year, it brings several new features for iOS devices such as the multitasking mode for iPad and upgrades for Siri.

It makes improvements to many existing features such as Maps, which can offer public transit information now, Spotlight searches will be even more powerful and best of all the new update only requires 1.8GB of free space to be installed on a device.

The new software has been in beta testing since June and multiple betas have already been seeded to developers, minor tweaks and improvements have been made since to ensure that iOS 9 is ready for public consumption later this month.

Apple confirmed today that iOS 9 will be released for all compatible devices on September 16th, it will be rolled out globally.
