If you’re a Netflix subscriber or if you are planning on subscribing to Netflix, you might be interested to learn that with the iOS version of the app, you will be able to subscribe to their services via in-app subscriptions. This is actually a very interesting move by the company considering the 30% cut that Apple gets.

Interestingly enough it seems that Netflix has not increased its subscriptions either based on the current prices in the in-app subscription. This basically translates to Netflix 1 screen with unlimited streaming at $7.99 a month, 2 screens for $8.99 a month, and $11.99 if you want to subscribe to the 4 screens option.

This is versus other services such as Spotify. Some of you guys might recall that a couple of months ago, Spotify who was probably miffed at the launch of Apple Music, decided to circumvent the iTunes App Store. They asked users to subscribe to their services via their website, and at the same time raising the in-app subscriptions to offset the 30% cut that Apple would be getting.

Spotify isn’t alone in this. Last year popular comics app comiXology was acquired by Amazon, and following in the footsteps of the Kindle app, Amazon removed the ability to purchase comics from within the app. This inconvenience resulted in a huge backlash of 1-star ratings which the app has not been able to recover since.
