Some time close to the middle of last month, the folks over at Samsung definitely confirmed that a new Gear VR headset was in the works, although there was no definitely release date back then. Well, we have since learnt that the very first version of the Gear VR hardware that hails from the folks over at Samsung and Oculus will target both developers and enthusiasts, although there will be a retail version as well which has just been announced at Oculus Connect today.

Apparently, this finalized model of the Gear VR will be launched this coming November with an asking price of $99 a pop, and it will target the mainstream masses. There does not look as though there is a lot of difference compared to the current hardware setup, but both Samsung and Oculus have redesigned it so that it will play nice with the whole slew of flagship Samsung smartphones that have been released this year – and this will include the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, along with the later Plus models. Not only that, the VR is also said to be 22% lighter and a whole lot more comfortable to wear as opposed to the developer model, accompanied by a redesigned touchpad.
