shut_up_appInternet comments are both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes they’re useful in finding out more information about something, and sometimes they’re just a treasure trove of troll-like replies, memes, and otherwise generally useless information. However if you’d rather not read internet comments at all, Shut Up is a new content blocker for iOS 9 worth checking out.

As you might have heard, iOS 9 allows developers to create content blockers. While the initial reaction is towards blocking ads, we suppose Shut Up is a good example of the other types of content that could also be blocked. Basically what it does is it tries to block/hide comments viewed in Safari or Safari View Controller.

Not only does this mean that you can potentially browse websites without dealing with comments, but it is possible that it will cut your loading times as well due to the comments not being loaded. Granted comments are sometimes just text, but given that some websites turn to third-party services to deliver comments, blocking it does seem to have the potential of decreasing website load times.

Users also have the option of whitelisting websites that they want to read comments on, but for everything else it can be blocked. The app is a free download and if you’d like to check it out, hit up the iTunes App Store for the download.
