Sprint announced today that it’s raising the price of its unlimited data plan with the change taking effect on October 16th, the price is going to be hiked by $10 so the plan’s new cost will be $70. The carrier is giving customers quite a bit of time to get their hands on the same plan for $60, until the new price goes live on October 16th users can subscribe to the plan for its existing price of $60 per month.
This isn’t really an unexpected move, Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure had hinted recently that a price increase for this plan is on the table, but despite the $10 increase Sprint still maintains that its unlimited data plan still costs less than that of T-Mobile, the carrier that recently overtook it to become the country’s third largest mobile carrier.
There’s some truth to Sprint’s claim, T-Mobile’s unlimited data plan costs $80 per month while AT&T and Verizon don’t even offer unlimited data plans, so Sprint is still undercutting T-Mobile when it comes to price alone.
As previously mentioned, the new plan doesn’t go in effect until October 16th so if you don’t want to pay $10 extra for unlimited data on the country’s fourth largest mobile carrier you have ample time between now and then to get on the $60 plan.
