T-Mobile today introduced a new program that it calls Lifetime Coverage Guarantee, basically the carrier will allow you to keep your phone lease active even if you decide to leave T-Mobile. Subscribers on the Jump On Demand plan can leave whenever they want to and they won’t be penalized for jumping ship, and if the users want to keep their leased phone T-Mobile will unlock it so that it can be used on another carrier provided that the customer continues to pay the remaining installments.
Those who decide to leave within the first 30 days will get a full refund, including all service and device fees if they send in the device.
If subscribers decide to leave after the first 30 days then only the current month of service will be refunded, and there will be an option to hold on to the device which will be unlocked as long as remaining payments are made every month.
This is going to make it much easier for people thinking about jumping ship to do so without incurring any hefty charges or penalties, but T-Mobile feels confident enough that its network quality alone will give subscribers reason to stay with Magenta.
Lifetime Coverage Guarantee is available on iPhone as well as select smartphones from Samsung and LG starting September 12th.
