twitch html5Twitch is a popular platform in which gamers can tune into livestreams. Gamers who also missed out on watching these livestreams would be able to tune into archived footage at a later date at their own leisure, but in terms of allowing streamers to upload pre-recorded footage, that’s something that Twitch has not allowed, at least until now.

Speaking during TwitchCon 2015, the company’s CEO Emmett Shear confirmed that moving forward, Twitch will allow streamers to upload videos onto its platform. What this means is that streamers who perhaps might want to offer up a more polished video will be able to record their sessions at their own leisure, edit them, and upload them when they’re ready.

It might also be ideal for streamers who suffer from poor connectivity to pre-record their footage to ensure a seamless experience for their viewers. In some ways this is a bit ironic. YouTube has recently launched YouTube Gaming which was designed to take Twitch on in terms of livestreaming gaming sessions.

However with Twitch now offering the ability to upload videos, that feature more or less puts them on par with YouTube, but what say you? Are video uploads something you have been waiting for to see on Twitch?
