apple_logoAs you might have heard in a rumor earlier this week that the iPhone 7 will apparently be waterproof. This is an interesting rumor and direction that Apple is taking, assuming of course that is true. However as it turns out, Apple is having some hard time trying to make it work, or at least that’s what new rumors out of China are claiming.

According to those rumors, Apple’s manufacturers are said to be encountering low production yields. Now before you think that Apple is already manufacturing the next iPhone, they’re not. It seems that the production is for prototype units which will be used for testing to determine if Apple will move forward, but based on this rumor, the low yields aren’t very encouraging.

From this point we can only imagine two directions that Apple will take. One, they will go back to the drawing board and find a way to improve upon it, or two, they will scrap the idea entirely and keep doing what they’ve been doing all this time. This is all a rumor at this point so be sure to take it with a grain of salt for now.

While waterproofing features are welcome, so far from what we can tell from Sony and Samsung who have both tried releasing waterproof phones in the past is that they’re not necessarily the killer feature customers are looking for, but what do you guys think? Will a waterproof iPhone be more compelling, or is it more like a bonus feature that would be nice to have but not necessary?
