Volkswagen PhaetonIt is definitely no fun being in Volkswagen at the moment – a brand that has built up its reputation over the years in a carefully choreographed marketing plan, solid performance and trendy vehicles, have all come to a sputtering halt with word that accusations of it cheating in emissions tests having proven to be true due to a special software within. As the company continues to reel from this scandal, it seems that Volkswagen’s 2016 models of its diesel vehicles will also come with the cheating software which might alter the results of government emissions tests to make the cars greener than they are.

It looks like the scandal of such “defeat devices” installed underneath the hood which intend to hide emissions is a whole lot larger than originally thought. Volkswagen has already informed the US Environmental Protection Agency and regulators in California that the software found in newer models could possibly result in a similar effect of the other defeat devices. You know what they say – honesty is the best policy, and in Volkswagen’s case, it is going to take a long time before trust is reestablished between consumers and them, although you can be sure that there will always be a small section of die-hard fans that will stick to their badge no matter the outcome.
