iPhone6s-4Color-RedFish-PR-PRINTAs soon as it was discovered that Apple’s new iPhones would feature chipsets made by both Samsung and TSMC and came in different sizes, many were quick to wonder if the difference in manufacturer and size would actually impact how the phone operated. It turns out that in terms of performance, the differences are negligible.

However according to recent benchmarks, it seems that battery life on the other hand is very different, with the TSMC-made A9 sporting battery life that is almost 2 hours longer than the Samsung-made A9. That being said, Apple has since come forward and issued a statement about the alleged differences in battery life.

In a statement made to iMore, the Cupertino company was quoted as saying, “Certain manufactured lab tests which run the processors with a continuous heavy workload until the battery depletes are not representative of real-world usage, since they spend an unrealistic amount of time at the highest CPU performance state. It’s a misleading way to measure real-world battery life. Our testing and customer data show the actual battery life of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, even taking into account variable component differences, vary within just 2-3% of each other.”

This pretty much echoes what we said in our previous report. Since we all use our phones differently, just because one iPhone has the “superior” chipset might not necessarily result in that user have amazing battery life if they were to play games and watch videos at max brightness all day.
