The Rapide is a four door supercar from Aston Martin that has an internal combustion engine as one would expect from a high performance car but Aston has now created a concept in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering which swaps out fuel for something much clear. Aston Martin RapidE is the all-electric concept of this four door supercar and it’s expected that this variant might go on sale in just about two years.

Aston Martin showed off the concept vehicle at a location where British and Chinese heads of state were meeting, even though it’s just a concept right now Aston Martin is looking into mass producing the car with a Chinese investment group and expects to have it rolling off the production line in as little as two years if they do decide to start production.

Cost, power and range are the biggest areas of concern for anyone looking to purchase an electric car, and if the idea of a four door all-electric Aston Martin appeals to you, then you’ll have to wait a bit for that information because Aston hasn’t revealed how much power the RapidE will have, how far it will go on a single charge and how much it will cost.

It’s going to be a major shift for Aston Martin to start producing high performance all-electric vehicles, it has historically made cars with big beefy internal combustion engines, and if it does go down this road Tesla might find itself looking anxiously in the rear view mirror.
