augustA man’s home is his castle – and with that expression, it goes without saying that castles themselves should be well defended and secure. After all, that’s what castles are meant to be in the medieval times, right? August Inc. intends to make the modern day castle more secure, by introducing a new home smart lock system. This home smart lock system is known as August Access, where it will comprise of a HomeKit-enabled August Smart Lock, a Keypad, and a Doorbell Cam.

August chief executive and cofounder Jason Johnson shared, “Smart home technology today is rapidly on its way to mainstream; however there are still many challenges that customers and service providers face when it comes to simple, secure home access.”

August Access happens to be a third-party API that allows users to tap into trusted services without requiring to fret about or twiddle their fingers when it comes to giving service providers a key, or perhaps to keep tabs on just who has what kind of access. Some of the launch partners will include Sears, Postmates, Pro.com, Handy, Fetch, Shyp, BloomNation, Envoy, Rinse, Hello Alfred, Wag!, Pillow, and Doorman, where August’s customers will be informed should there be any activity from these partners at their residence. The August Doorbell Cam also provides added peace of mind when you can visually verify who’s is right in front of your doorstep even if you’re at the office. Pretty neat, yes? [Press Release]
