It’s not unusual for companies to allow third-party manufacturers to develop and sell accessories for their devices, they do give the manufacturers some guidelines which they have to follow when designing and developing said accessories. A few days after its new Lumia smartphones were announced Microsoft has made it apparent that it has launched a “Designed for Microsoft Lumia” program for official third-party accessories.

This program frees up the company from having to make accessories for the new Lumias itself, though there’s nothing stopping it if it wants to, while allowing more companies to get in on the fun which ends up giving more choice to customers.

Merely days after the Lumia 950, Lumia 950XL and Lumia 550 were unveiled Finland’s Mozo and Sweden’s Krusell have already been named as the official case manufacturers for these smartphones, their products will be the first to carry the “Designed for Microsoft Lumia” logo.

So far Microsoft hasn’t listing any accessories for these handsets that it has made so from the looks of it the company might rely on third-party manufacturers to pick up the baton. It’s very much possible that more companies might be added to the “Designed for Microsoft Lumia” program down the line particularly when the next round of Lumia smartphones arrives.
