trials-of-osiris-destinyAccording to a recent report on Reddit, it seems that several gamers who own PlayStation 4 consoles are starting to notice that the icon for Destiny: The Taken King is appearing on their consoles under their “Games”. Now if you are seeing similar icons and you think that you might have somehow accidentally bought the game, you can rest assured that it’s nothing sinister.

In a comment made by Sony, the icon appears only to tell gamers what kind of games are being recommended for them. “The PS4 system has the ability to learn about your preferences. It will learn your likes and dislikes, allowing you to discover content pre-loaded and ready to go on your console in your favorite game genres or by your favorite creators.”

As evidenced in the Reddit post, the icon has appeared for some gamers who took part in Destiny’s alpha and beta, which seems to suggest to the company that they might be interested in playing the full version (fair enough). However despite the innocuous nature of the feature, many gamers aren’t too thrilled by it.

This reminds us of the time Apple decided to be generous and give everyone U2’s latest albums for free, despite many users not wanting it in the first place, or at least having the option of downloading it themselves as opposed to it appearing on their mobile devices.
