microsoft-display-dock

A few days back Microsoft finally showed off the two new Lumia handsets that we have been hearing about for months, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL are now official and so is the Display Dock, an accessory which enables the smartphones to double as PCs when hooked up with a monitor. One might think that this dock may not cost that much but it’s actually going to be more expensive than you expect.

In order to use the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950XL as a PC one must first connect the handset to the Display Dock along with the mouse and keyboard. The dock then has to be connected to a monitor or TV and in just a few seconds it enables the user to use the handset as a mini PC powered by Windows 10.

Display Dock only works with the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL so previous Lumia devices won’t be compatible though it’s possible that it might work with handsets that Microsoft releases in the future.

PCWorld reports that Microsoft is going to release this accessory for its new flagship smartphones next month, the accessory will feature two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort all neatly packaged in a unit that costs $99.
