battlefield hardline 3EA is a huge publisher. Their name is linked a variety of extremely popular games on the console, PC, and mobile. However it seems that recently, the company has been considering making huger and more epic triple-A action titles, a genre which the company seems to think that they are lacking in.

Speaking to IGN, EA Studios Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund said, “If you look at the biggest segment in our industry, which is action, we don’t have a lot. EA is not known to make gigantic action games like Assassin’s Creed or Batman or GTA or those types of games that are really big. The strategic direction that we put in motion is to expand our portfolio more into that segment, to see what can we bring to gamers that maybe hasn’t been done before.”

However before you get too excited at the idea of seeing a GTA-like game from EA, that’s not what they’re after. Instead Soderlund’s comments were just meant to highlight a possible new direction that the company could be headed towards.“I’m not suggesting we’re going to go after GTA and sell 50 million units. We would love to! But what I’m saying is those types of absolutely AAA, big productions is what we want to do. And I think for us to do that, we need the right people.”

It is unclear as to what exactly the end result will be of EA’s new direction, but given their resources, we wouldn’t be surprised if they could end up matching the likes of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed and Take-Two’s Grand Theft Auto series.
