If Facebook is an app that you often use on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus then you are going to like the update that the social network is sending out today. Facebook for iOS has been updated with support for 3D Touch, this feature is new to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, it enables new gestures on the smartphone based on how hard the user is pressing down on the display.

Once the updated Facebook for iOS app is installed users can hard press on the app icon to get access to handy shortcuts that enable them to quickly take and upload photos or videos, or even swiftly pen a status update without having to launch the entire application.

3D Touch is a major selling point of the new iPhones, initially this feature only worked with default Apple apps such as Maps, Music, Mail and others. The company did say though that developers will be able to tap into 3D Touch and many have gradually been adding support for it in their apps. It’s great that Facebook has followed through as well.

Aside from Instagram, the main Facebook app is only the second app owned by the company to support 3D Touch, it is yet to update WhatsApp, Moments, Messenger, Groups and others with support for the same. The updated Facebook for iOS app is now live in the App Store.
