Recently there have been many reports from iOS users complaining that the Facebook for iOS app is causing excessive battery drain on their devices, apparently because the app continues to run processes in the background even if background app refresh is disabled, this in turn eats up the precious battery life. Facebook has now confirmed that it’s looking into these reports and will have a fix available for users very soon.

A spokesperson for Facebook said that the social network has heard reports of some people experiencing battery issues with the iOS app, “we’re looking into this and hope to have a fix in place soon.”

Multiple theories have since been floated online as to why this is happening but so far Facebook isn’t commenting on them, it’s keep its head down and looking into the matter, without addressing why its iOS app is causing so much background activity that users have started to complain about battery drain.

There’s just one remedy for those who are absolutely fed up with the drain, they can remove the app altogether and use Facebook via a web browser in the meantime, while the social network fixes whatever it is that needs fixing and releases an updated version of its iOS application.
